Spot Cleaning Tips

Maintaining spot free carpet or upholstery is much easier if it has been treated with a high quality fabric protectant. In fact most of the major carpet manufacturers recommend that the protective coating be renewed with either every cleaning or every 12-24 months depending on your individual traffic.

No carpet is fully stain-proof. Many conditions can cause permanent discoloration of your carpet fiber, including the dyes in some foods and beverages, bleaches, acids and even the caustic solutions found in common household cleaning products. Grocery store carpet spotters, pet urine, body oil, tracked in soil and even household dust can permanently discolor your carpet over time.

How to Clean Up a Spill Without Damaging Your Carpet

EMERGENCY TIPS

  1. Don't Panic, but act fast. The longer a spill sits on the fiber the more likely it will penetrate and leave a stain.
  2. Scrape up the excess with a spoon or dull knife
  3. Blot with a clean White towel (a stack of paper towels will work in a pinch). Step on them until no transfer takes place. Do not rub!
  4. Use only cool or lukewarm water to rinse.

The codes in the table below indicate the cleaning agent to be used and the order in which they should be applied. ALWAYS TEST FOR COLORFASTNESS IN AN INCONSPICUOUS AREA PRIOR TO USING.
